Overview of New Taipei City

 

Location
New Taipei City is located in northern Taiwan, the city includes a substantial stretch of the island's northern coastline and surrounds the Taipei Basin, making it the second largest special municipality by area, behind Kaohsiung. New Taipei City is bordered by Keelung to the northeast, Yilan County to the southeast, and Taoyuan to the southwest. It completely surrounds Taipei. Banqiao District is its municipal seat and biggest commercial area. Until 2010, the area that roughly corresponds to the present New Taipei City was known as Taipei County.

Most of New Taipei can be accessed conveniently by Taipei's public transit systems, including the Taipei MRT metro system and various buses and trains.

Weather
The climate of the city is characterized as a humid subtropical climate with seasonal monsoons with ample rainfall evenly distributed throughout the year. Seasonal variations of temperatures are noticeable although temperatures typically vary from warm to hot throughout the year, except when cold fronts strike during the winter months when temperatures can sometimes dip below 10 °C (50 °F). January is typically the coolest month and July is usually the warmest.

I had been working as an English teacher in a camp-oriented elementary school for 3 years after graduation. After that, I did a working holiday in Cairns, Australia for a year and in Vancouver, Canada for another year. Now, I am with Fulbright yeah~ I am a world adventurer and I love language learning. Bling Lin

Hi, my name is Bling Lin from Taipei, Taiwan. During my student career, I participated several times in international exchange programs in Germany, the USA, and New Zealand. I'm interested in language learning, cultural exchanges, and international sports research. I like to travel, do sports, and hang out with friends in my free time.

New Taipei City is one of my favorite cities in Taiwan, it's full of beautiful natural resources such as breathtaking coastline views and mysterious mountain trails. Moreover, you can also find cultural attractions here, you should come and explore. I’m pretty sure you will fall in love with New Taipei City!

Community Service- SALT Kitchen

For this volunteer opportunity, the grantees gathered at Allegro Restaurant to pack bento boxes. Everybody there had a different job they could do. One helped to pack the rice into the bentos. Once the bentos were made we all took the MRT to Taipei Main and walked around passing out food to people who needed it.

Community Service- Andrew Food Bank

Andrew Food Bank is a non-profit organization that provides food boxes to the disadvantaged minority. Our grantees volunteer to pack the food box. Then, the organization delivers the food box to people in need.

Community Service- Board game at Da’an Library

The grantees did storytelling with children at Da'at library. They spoke English with the children and helped them with the alphabet, colors, introductions, and more.

Cultural Event- Yingge Pottery

Yingge District is best known for its ceramics industry, walk along Yingge Old Street you can admire traditional and contemporary ceramic works, creating a piece for yourself.
