Changhua Overview
Location
Changhua County is situated in the mid-western part of Taiwan. The Dadu River marks the north border between Changhua County and Taichung City. Bagua Mountain, home of the famous Baguashan Buddha, located in eastern Changhua, forms the border between Changhua and Nantou Counties. The southern border of Changhua County is marked by the Zhuoshui River which separates it from Yunlin County. This makes Changhua County an agricultural hub for the country, producing many of its fruits and produce. Although the smallest county on the main island of Taiwan, these natural borders enclose upwards of 1.3 million people making it the most densely populated county on the island. Due to its situation, Changhua has convenient access to all that Taiwan has to offer, from city life in Taichung to the natural beauty of Nantou. Being in the middle of the western side of the island, all major cities and landmarks are only a few hours away.

Subtropical monsoon climate. A little rain in winter, sunny and hot in summer. Few typhoons hit due to the central cordillera’s protection. Comfortable to live and stay.

Carly Lin
Hello ETAs & ETFs,
I am Carly, I have been as Changhua ETA program Coordinator since 2018. Welcome to Changhua and I am expecting to meet you all.
My backgrounds are the combination of Early Childhood Education and English Literature. I also stayed in North Carolina as an Au Pair and studied in Montana. With those experiences as an educator and lived abroad, I know how important education and cultural exchange will help children to see the world differently. Your engagement as ETA will certainly make the world “with a little more knowledge and a little less conflict”.
Changhua might seem nothing special to you at the moment, but trust me, you will be amazed by the hospitality of the people here!

Jen Yang
Hello ETAs & ETFs,
I’m Jen, and I’m excited to introduce myself! I graduated with a degree in Modern Languages from National Pingtung University of Science and Technology. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching children aged 8 to 15 as a homeroom teacher at a cram school, helping them grow academically and build confidence.
I also participated in the Ministry of Education’s "English Companion Program - Big Hands, Little Hands", where I spent three years teaching in a remote area of Taiwan. This experience taught me the power of education to create meaningful change, even in challenging environments.
I’m currently based in Changhua, located in the heart of Taiwan. This beautiful city is known for its rich cultural history and the warmth of its people. I encourage you to take a look around — you’ll be impressed by the kindness and hospitality that define this place.
Feel free to explore, and I look forward to connecting with you!
