Remote Service Camp
Each year FSE holds 3 remote service projects to extend ETAs and ETFs’ outreach to more rural communities in Taiwan. We had English Camps in Penghu, Sun Moon Lake, Miaoli, Nantou, Matsu, and Xiaoliuqiu.
English Village
In Yilan
English Village is a language camp in Yilan that hosts fifth graders from different schools across the county every Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon. It is an immersive English environment that allows students to step away from the standard English classroom and enjoy a field trip to an exciting new place with foreign teachers, giving them a chance to finally utilize the English they have acquired throughout their elementary school years.
There are six themed stations through which students rotate at English Village: the airplane; restaurant, health clinic, bank and post office, dance room, and shopping mall. The various stations ensure that students can practice a wide range of English.
English Village attendees come from all different parts of Yilan. Some come from large urban schools with exceptional English programs, while others come from small rural schools with a single English teacher. As such, students' English levels will vary from week to week. It is up to the Yilan ETAs at English Village to gauge the levels of their students and adjust their lessons accordingly.
In Kinmen
English Village is an English learning center catering to fifth graders from every elementary school in Kinmen. Students attend a two-day immersive experience where they learn and apply English in real-life situations. Like in Yilan's English Village, ETAs teach students vocabulary and sentence structures in themed classrooms. Lessons focus on using English to complete various activities and role-play scenarios.
There are three themed classrooms, complete with appropriate decorations, props, and word walls: the kitchen, hotel and airplane. For more information about Kinmen's English Village, please visit the official website.

ETA Storybook
Yilan, Kinmen, Taitung, and Kaohsiung ETAs work together to produce their own illustrated storybooks for elementary and middle school students. The stories are tied to local Taiwanese culture, allowing readers to apply English to their own personal contexts.
