Pumpkin spiced lattes, scarves, and crunchy leaves are the stereotypical aesthetics that most often come to mind during fall in the US. However, in Florida, the environment was very much the same as Taiwan. The weather was only just beginning to get cooler and slightly less humid. In Taiwan, I find similar weather but much more celebration. With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, it seems like every other day a moon cake is placed in my hands or close enough to grab. Many teachers and friends talk of traveling or going to see their family. There is excitement in experiencing my first Taiwanese Mid-Autumn Festival and eating more mooncakes.
