Major Events Throughout the Year

Throughout the grant year, FSE will hold various events to bring all Fulbrighters across the country together to celebrate holidays and pursue personal enrichment, development and so forth. The major ones are the Joint-Site Orientation, Thanksgiving event, and Midyear Conference:

Joint-Site Orientation (August)

After the first two weeks of orientation workshops in late August, all sites come back together for the Joint-Site Orientation!

Thanksgiving (November)

On Thanksgiving Eve, FSE hosts a thanksgiving event that includes a career panel and thanksgiving dinner. We invite Fulbright Senior Scholars, AIT Language Fellows, and renowned Taiwanese businessmen to share their passions and workplace experiences at the career panel. The panel serves as a great opportunity for ETAs to gain insight on potential career paths to pursue.

Midyear Conference (January)

At the Midyear Conference, local teachers and ETAs from each site gather to share their teaching experiences and showcase special projects they are working on. The conference also provides an opportunity for local teachers and ETAs across Taiwan to connect, share, and learn from one another.

Winter Break (Jan.-Feb.)

In between semesters there will be a 3 week winter break which enables you to travel around the rest of Asia or other countries. However, do note that this will be the only opportunity that grantees are allowed to table outside the country throughout the grant year. Please follow oversea travel protocols.

ETF Application (Dec.-Feb.)

Meanwhile, if you’re enjoying being an ETA and considering to stay for another year, pay attention to the ETF application, which is a similar position as the ETA and prep will start around this time of a year!

Wrap-Up Workshop / Farewell Site Event (June)
