What are Hualien ETAs doing in August?

August was filled to the brim with activities for the Hualien ETAs. Online workshops were spent enhancing classroom management skills, learning how to make lessons more interactive, and determining ways to provide effective scaffolding. The Hualien ETAs taught an English Superhero Camp at Bei Chang Elementary School and Dau Hsiang Elementary School, reminding the students that they are cool, smart, and super in their own ways. They also kept students of all levels entertained with different portrayals of Goldilocks and the Three Bears at a storytelling event at the Ji'an Library. When the ETAs were not teaching English in some shape or form, they were dancing and doing art with a nearby elderly community, drinking mango smoothies to escape the heat at Shitiping, or learning how to stamp and dye leather bracelets and keychains. Orientation was a good mix of teaching and fun, now it's time to lean into the next semester!
