The Betel Nut Experience in Taitung

To live in Taiwan, betel nut is everywhere. To live in Taitung, we get to see how the betel nut is made.

Fulbright Taitung ETAs experienced Taiwanese and indigenous culture through the lense of betel leaf farmers. They learned what the betel leaf farm looks like, tried to pick betel leaves and sell them, and wrapped betel nuts. The farming life is relaxing and organic as the Taitung ETAs were gifted bananas, Jabuticaba, and hotspring eggs. This day has offered the ETAs treasurous memories of experiencing betel nut process and a glimpse of the lives of the local farmers in Taitung.
